State Representative Seeks To Decriminalize Internet Gambling

Law, 2007-01-29, by Ozone

In 2006, the Washington State Legislature passed an internet gambling bill which made it a Class C Felony to gamble online from one's home. Last week Representative Chris Strow introduced new legislation that would decriminalize recreational internet gambling.

Says Strow, "Most certainly choosing to gamble, or play a game of skill such as poker, should not have been made a crime equivalent to possessing child pornography or threatening the Governor." For now, Strow's bill is awaiting a hearing in the House Commerce and Labor Committee.
