BetonSports Founder Gary Kaplan Arrested In Dominican Republic

The United States Department of Justice (DOJ) has aggressively targeted BetonSports, a major US-facing online sportsbook that also had a small poker room. This past summer, the DOJ indicted the CEO and the company itself on a variety of charges. The company promptly pulled out of the US market, which effectively put it out of business.

The DOJ has been attempting to arrest the founders of the company, Gary Kaplan and Norman Steinberg, for quite some time. Today, they captured Kaplan while he was in the Dominican Republic. Dominican authorities arrested Kaplan and transported him to Puerto Rico to be placed under American custody.
